Bruschetta (Toasted Bread with Toppings)

Tuscan bruschetta are toasted bread with a savory topping, usually served as an appetizer. The most common bruschetta is made with a simple and fresh tomato mixture as described here. Many versions exist; some add herbs such as basil to the tomatoes or use leafy greens, prosciutto, white beans, or even figs as toppings. A drizzle of balsamic vinegar also enhances these ingredients.
